BAGHDAD, Iraq โ€” Iraq's Media and Communications Commission said a Baghdad court has lifted an interim order against the local telecommunications company Korek, keeping the regulator's own decision to suspend dealings with the firm in force. The commission said the Rusafa first-instance court reviewed on 24 August an appeal filed by its chief executive, Buleigh Abu Kalal, against a Korek official and revoked the provisional measure. In a statement, the regulator said it would fully respect the judicial ruling and continue legal proceedings related to the company's file, adding that state rights, the public interest and user rights would be preserved. The interim order against Korek had earlier been announced by lawmaker Ihlias al-Dulaymi of the Kurdistan Democratic Party. Commission chief Abu Kalal had said the dispute with Korek had reached an impasse and that procedures had been initiated to close the company's offices in Baghdad. No further details on the next stage of the legal process were immediately available.
