Kurdistan Region president meets ENKS delegation on Syrian political process

ERBIL, Iraq โ Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani met in Erbil with a presidential delegation from the Syrian Kurdish National Congress (ENKS) to discuss recent developments in Syria, the situation in Kurdish areas and the upcoming Syrian People's Council elections.
Barzani said Kurdish participation in Syria's political process, legislative bodies and administrative institutions is the basis for safeguarding legitimate Kurdish rights. He pointed to the ENKS's active role and stressed the need for continued unity, dialogue and understanding among Syrian Kurdish parties.
Kurdish officials said stronger relations and joint work with the Damascus government are important for resolving political disputes. The ENKS delegation thanked Barzani and the Kurdistan Region for their continued support for Syrian Kurds.
The two sides also reviewed recent movements of ISIS in the region and discussed US Special Presidential Envoy for Iraq and Syria Tom Barrack's visit to Erbil and his joint meeting with Barzani and Mazloum Abdi.
