Kirkuk Police Command said it has detained a suspect linked to a string of thefts targeting currency exchange offices and a car rental company in the city. The arrest was carried out under the supervision of the police chief after technical surveillance by anti-crime units.
Police tracked the suspect outside the city, then brought him back to Kirkuk in a planned operation and arrested him in a brief raid. A handgun was recovered during the search.
In his initial interrogation, the suspect admitted to robbing two currency exchange offices and taking money, as well as stealing from a car rental company. He was placed under arrest after legal procedures were completed.
