Jordan says it shot down five Iranian drones that entered its airspace

AMMAN, Jordan — Jordan's General Staff said the Royal Air Force shot down five Iranian drones that took off from Iran last night and early on Tuesday and entered the country's airspace. The military said the drones were intercepted according to established defense procedures and in line with the current operational situation. The General Staff said the operation caused no casualties or material damage on the ground. It added that the drones had been neutralized before they could reach their targets within Jordanian territory. The armed forces said they continue to monitor the airspace and will respond under established rules of engagement to any aerial vehicle that threatens national security or the safety of citizens. The General Staff also said the military is maintaining its operational readiness and has taken all necessary measures to address the threat.
