BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's National Security Service said on Sunday that its operatives identified and dismantled an unmanned aerial vehicle production workshop in the capital, arresting three suspects in the operation. The agency said the raid, carried out under the supervision of the Third Investigating Judge's court, targeted a manufacturing site discovered through intelligence work in Baghdad.
During the search, security forces seized 25 drone airframes along with assembly and production equipment, according to the statement. Materials found at the site included carbon fiber plates, component parts and other technical supplies used in the manufacturing process, the agency added.
The National Security Service said the production effort was halted before completion and that the three detainees would be referred to the judiciary. It added that the ongoing investigation aims to determine whether the activity was linked to plans targeting Iraq's national security. No further details were immediately available.
