Iran says Strait of Hormuz will stay shut to ships if US attacks continue

The source said the waterway is under the "full control" of the Iranian armed forces and that any decision to reopen it or extend restrictions would be based solely on security assessments and national interests. The source added that passage permits will not be issued while American threats and hostile actions persist, and that the current posture will remain unchanged. Regional stability, the source said, depends on the cessation of US hostilities. The Strait of Hormuz is a strategic waterway through which a significant share of global oil trade passes.
