BAGHDAD, Iraq โ€” Iraqi parliamentarian Hiyam el-Yasiri has submitted a formal question to the Media and Communication Authority regarding mobile operators' internet packages, according to parliamentary records. In her Tuesday submission, Yasiri noted that 4G and 5G packages advertise data caps of 100 and 250 gigabytes, after which speeds reportedly drop to approximately 3 megabits under "fair usage" policies. She said subscribers are then required to purchase additional packages. The parliamentarian asked how the authority regulates and supervises such marketing campaigns, and how operators' compliance with advertised speeds is monitored. She also requested information on what quality standards apply to fair usage policies and how subscribers are compensated when companies fail to deliver committed services. The formal request called for official responses and relevant documentation to be provided to Yasari within the legal timeframe. No further details were immediately available.
