SALADIN, Iraq โ Footage circulating on Iraqi social media shows special security forces and Integrity Commission teams uncovering a safe hidden under a bed during a search connected to the Baiji refinery corruption investigation. The video, shared widely online, captures the moment the safe was recovered from the house. Ownership of the property has been disputed in online commentary, with some users linking it to Oil Ministry Deputy Minister Adnan al-Jumaili and others suggesting it belongs to another figure named in the case.
The raid is part of what Iraqi officials have described as one of the country's largest oil-sector corruption probes. On May 30, special security forces detained al-Jumaili, who also serves as director general of the Northern Refineries Company, on charges of administrative and financial corruption. The case has focused on operations at the northern Baiji refinery, Iraq's largest crude-processing facility.
No official statement has been released identifying the owner of the searched house or the contents of the safe. Further details were not immediately available.
