BAGHDAD, Iraq โ The Iraqi Army's Directorate of Military Intelligence said a security operation in Maysan province resulted in the seizure of a large cache of weapons and drones. The raids were carried out by the Intelligence and Security Branch of the 22nd Commando Division following directives from the directorate's chief, according to a written statement.
Forces confiscated drones, mortar rounds, rocket-propelled grenade munitions and various types of hand grenades during the operation, which was based on intelligence leads, the directorate said. Legal procedures have been initiated over the seized materiel in accordance with standard procedures.
The statement added that intelligence units will continue to monitor and pursue illicit activity and confiscate illegal weapons and materials. Individuals found to be involved in such activities will face legal action, it said. No further details on suspects or the precise location of the operation were immediately available.
