BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's Interior Ministry announced a notable decline in crime rates nationwide, with the capital, Baghdad, recording the steepest drop. Ministry spokesman Brigadier General Miqdad Miri said in a written statement that current security indicators point to reductions across different categories of crime.
Miri attributed the trend to security plans, intelligence operations and the field presence of law enforcement units. He said interior ministry bodies are working intensively to prevent crimes and ensure that suspects are apprehended quickly.
The spokesman emphasized that the prevailing stability has been achieved through continuous operations, intelligence cooperation and public support, rather than through a security vacuum. The ministry said it would continue to develop its plans to preserve the current security level and strengthen public order, without providing further details.
