BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Baghdad Mayor Ammar Musa Kazim inspected construction at the Antar Square Bridge site, where work has surpassed 40% completion, according to a statement from his office. The project is being financed through funds allocated under the Emergency Support Law, and the mayor said required allocations are in place, allowing work to continue without interruption.
The bridge is being built on 334 bored piles and will stretch 1,470 meters in length, the statement said. The project also includes an underground passage running beneath the bridge that will connect Antar Square with Al-Dalal Square.
Once construction is finished, the Antar Square statue will be returned to its original location, and the Al-Dalal Square statue will be reinstalled in its previous position following restoration work. No further details on the project's timeline were immediately available.
