Iraqi forces arrest two ISIS suspects, destroy five hideouts in Sulaymaniyah and Kirkuk

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq's Counter-Terrorism Service said it arrested two ISIS members in operations carried out on Sunday in Sulaymaniyah and Kirkuk provinces. The service said the suspects had been involved in coordinating attacks on civilians and security forces across multiple areas. In Sulaymaniyah, the arrest was carried out in coordination with the Iraqi National Intelligence Service and the Sulaymaniyah Directorate of Counter-Terrorism, according to the statement. The operation followed intelligence work aimed at locating the suspect, who the service said had held various operational roles within the group. A second suspect was captured in Kirkuk based on intelligence leads and field tracking, the Counter-Terrorism Service said. During a joint search operation with the National Intelligence Service in the same province, five hideouts used by the group were destroyed. The service said investigations into the two detainees were ongoing and that no further details were immediately available.
