KIRKUK, Iraq โ€” An official in Kirkuk said gasoline stations in the city halted distribution of improved-grade fuel on Sunday, redirecting demand to outlets still supplying other fuel types. Authorities had not issued a public statement explaining the stoppage or when it might resume. Previous supply data showed Kirkuk received about 1.5 million liters of gasoline per day, with 1.2 million liters delivered in more than 30 tankers from the Bazian refinery and 400,000 to 450,000 liters supplied from the Baiji refinery. The official did not link the halt to a specific operational cause. The disruption was not confined to Kirkuk. Last week, most stations across cities in the Kurdistan Region ran out of fuel or saw sharp reductions, producing long vehicle queues. No further details on the Kirkuk stoppage were immediately available.
