BAGHDAD, Iraq โ€” The body of a Syrian national who drowned in the Euphrates River in the Al-Qaim district of western Anbar province was recovered after several days of searching, a government source said. The source identified the victim as Kazim Julud al-Halfan, born in 1995, whose remains were located in the Al-Abeidi subdistrict. In the same incident, the man's brother, who also fell into the river, was rescued, according to the source. The body was transferred to a forensic medicine unit for identification and other legal procedures. Mohammed Tariq, media director of Anbar's Civil Defense, said search and rescue teams mounted an intensive operation after being notified of the accident near the village of Al-Suwayya, on the eastern side of the Euphrates. He said teams were mobilized to locate the missing person and continued work until the body was found.
