Iraq weather service warns hot conditions to persist nationwide

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq's Meteorological Directorate said on Wednesday that a seasonal heat wave would continue to affect the country throughout the day, with clear, sunny weather expected across all regions. Temperatures were forecast to remain close to levels recorded on Tuesday. Daytime conditions were expected to be hot and, in some areas, very hot, while nights and early mornings would be mild, the directorate said in its daily bulletin. Officials warned that the high temperatures could pose risks for outdoor workers, the elderly and people with chronic illnesses. The agency urged the public to avoid going outside during the hottest hours unless necessary, stay out of direct sunlight, drink plenty of water and check air-conditioning systems. Updated assessments for the coming days would be released through official channels, the directorate added.
