BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Prime Minister Ali Falih al-Zaidi met with Japan's Ambassador to Iraq, Akira Endo, in Baghdad on Sunday to discuss strengthening economic ties between the two countries.
The Prime Ministry Media Office said al-Zaidi expressed Iraq's readiness to welcome Japanese investment across multiple sectors, with particular emphasis on large strategic projects and nationwide infrastructure renovation. The government announced plans to expand administrative and regulatory facilities for foreign investors.
Endo congratulated al-Zaidi on his new cabinet securing a confidence vote from the Iraqi Parliament. The ambassador also conveyed congratulations from Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
Both sides signaled their intent to deepen trade relations and joint investment cooperation during the meeting.
