Iraq seeks to benefit from European technology, al-Zeydi says

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Falih al-Zeydi met Italian Ambassador Nicolo Fontana on Sunday to discuss ways to expand bilateral relations and cooperation across several sectors. Al-Zeydi said Iraq aims to deepen its economic engagement with Italy and other European Union countries and benefit from Italian companies’ advanced technologies, particularly in energy, agriculture and industry. He also renewed his call for Italian companies to contribute to Iraq’s development program. Fontana reaffirmed the Italian government’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations in all areas of mutual cooperation, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office. The two sides agreed to deepen cooperation in energy, agriculture and industry.
