Baghdad Operations Commander inspects Karkh security operations

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Baghdad Operations Commander Lt. Gen. Hadi al-Kannani visited the headquarters of the Auxiliary Brigade in the Abu Ghreib district on the western edge of the capital to inspect security operations, the command said in a statement. He was accompanied by his assistant for internal affairs, the deputy for Karkh defense, and a number of staff officers. Al-Kannani received a detailed briefing from the brigade commander and unit commanders on the tasks, covered areas and deployment of forces within the responsibility zone. He was welcomed at the brigade headquarters during the visit. The commander issued instructions to monitor combat and operational readiness, intensify intelligence efforts, maintain security measures and continue support to government offices. He also ordered an inspection of the area of responsibility, the boundary lines with neighboring commands and the checkpoints at entry points into the capital. Al-Kannani directed that vehicle inspections be carried out without disrupting traffic and that personnel morale and administrative needs be addressed, according to the statement.
