BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's National Security Service said it dismantled a fuel smuggling network in Maysan province following a security operation carried out on Sunday. The force acted on intelligence to identify the route used by the network, the service said.
Several suspects were detained during the raid, and materials and equipment used in the smuggling operations were seized, according to the statement. Legal proceedings have been initiated against those detained, and their cases have been referred to the relevant judicial authorities pending the completion of the investigation.
Officials said the intelligence-based operation was part of ongoing efforts to track smuggling networks operating in the province. No further details on the scale of the seized materials or the number of detainees were immediately available.
