Fire destroys 10 tents at Sharya refugee camp in Duhok, no casualties reported

DUHOK, Iraq — A large fire broke out at the Sharya refugee camp in Duhok, in the Kurdistan Region, burning 10 tents to the ground in the camp's southern section, according to Şevan Îsa, an official with the Duhok Directorate of Migration and Migrants' media unit. Îsa said the blaze caused significant material damage to belongings inside the tents but resulted in no injuries or deaths. Civil defense teams were dispatched to the site and contained the fire, preventing it from spreading to neighboring tents. Security forces have launched an investigation to determine the cause and circumstances of the fire. Officials said no definitive cause has been identified so far.
