Iraq's grain company says over 2 million flour sacks ready for distribution

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq's General Company for Grain Production, under the Ministry of Trade, said that more than 2 million sacks of flour have been dispatched to authorized agents as part of the flour ration allocated to citizens, as of Thursday. The company stated that production and distribution are proceeding in line with the approved plan, with efforts underway to prevent any disruption in grain product distribution across Baghdad and other cities. Acting Director General Haydar Kerawi said that planned flour quantities are continuing to be delivered to agents at an accelerated pace, and that the designated food parcels will reach citizens according to the set schedule. Kerawi added that flour mills and distribution processes are being directly monitored through field inspections. Inspection teams have conducted field visits to active mills and flour agents in Kirkuk, Musni, Salahaddin, Dhi Qar and Maysan, as well as to agents in Karbala and Babil. The visits are aimed at ensuring the continuity of grain product distribution despite heavy population movement in these cities during the Karbala pilgrimage. The official also noted that flour samples produced in Wasit and Babil have been collected for biological testing to verify compliance with established standards.
