BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's General Commission of Customs has denied reports that solar energy systems are fully exempt from customs duties and other taxes. The commission said in a statement that circulating claims, in some media outlets and on social platforms, about a decision granting solar energy systems 100 percent exemption from customs duties and taxes do not reflect the truth.
The commission said the reports do not correspond to any decision issued by the authority and are inaccurate. It called on media outlets and other parties to obtain information from official sources.
The General Commission of Customs added that it will continue to carry out customs procedures and apply regulations in line with the existing legal framework and approved instructions. No further details on the underlying claims or any pending review were immediately available.
