BAGHDAD, Iraq โ One Afghan national was killed in a stabbing during a fight with another Afghan national in the Jihad neighborhood of Baghdad, Iraqi security officials said. The victim was stabbed in the abdomen and died at the scene.
Security forces launched a search operation to locate the suspect, who fled the area after the incident. No further details on the circumstances of the altercation were immediately available.
Separately, the Saladin Police Directorate arrested a suspect accused of stealing used air coolers in the Qadisiyah area of Saladin province. The arrest followed the circulation of surveillance footage on social media, the directorate said.
According to the statement, investigators from the Saladin Anti-Crime Unit reviewed security camera footage and conducted intelligence work to identify the suspect. The stolen items and the vehicle used in the theft were recovered, and the suspect was detained and referred to the judiciary.
The Saladin Police Directorate said operations aimed at tracking suspects and protecting residents would continue across the province.
