Iraq Reintegrates More Than 13,000 Dropout Students Under Opportunity Program

Iraq’s Education Ministry said more than 13,000 dropout students have returned to school under the Fırsat program, with a 95% attendance rate recorded in the current academic year. The initiative is aimed at bringing out-of-school children back into education and improving continuity in the system. The program’s details were reviewed at a technical meeting held in Erbil, where officials examined implementation results and field-level follow-up work. Education teams operating on the ground identified the causes of dropout and focused their efforts on the areas most affected. Support under the program has included school supplies, transportation costs and assistive devices for students with disabilities. The ministry also provided teachers with special training on how to work with dropout students and support their return to class.
