Iraq Ranks Behind Regional Peers in 2025 Global Happiness Index

Iraq ranked 4.98 points in the 2025 Global Happiness Ranking, trailing several regional peers as the index again highlighted wide differences in wellbeing across the Middle East and beyond. Kuwait scored 6.63, Saudi Arabia 6.60 and the United Arab Emirates 6.76, all ahead of Iraq.
Jordan received 4.31 points and Lebanon 3.19, placing both below Iraq in the ranking. At the top of the list, Finland led with 7.74 points, while Denmark and Iceland shared second place at 7.52.
Sweden, the Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland and Australia also appeared in the top 10. The index is based on measures including per capita income, social support, life expectancy, individual freedoms, corruption levels and social trust.
