Iran to release more footage of new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei

TEHRAN, Iran — A senior commander of Iran’s Central Command Forces said footage of the country’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, filmed at public events and meetings with military officials, will be released in the coming days. Brigadier General Qassem Goureyshi, deputy commander of the Central Command Forces, announced the plan, according to the judiciary-linked Mizan News Agency. The announcement followed the release of a 13-second clip showing Khamenei. No date or location was provided for the recording. Separately, the Mehr News Agency reported that President Masoud Pezeshkian held a meeting with Khamenei to discuss military and economic issues. Mehr said it was the first disclosed contact between the two since the killing of Khamenei’s father. Pezeshkian had said several days earlier that he had difficulty reaching the new Supreme Leader. Mojtaba Khamenei was appointed to the post in March following his father’s death.
