Iraq Orders Stricter Measures Against Congo-Crimean Hemorrhagic Fever

The Agriculture Ministry has ordered tighter preventive measures against Congo-Crimean Hemorrhagic Fever as Eid al-Adha approaches and cases continue to be reported in some areas, directing authorities to protect public health and livestock by restricting slaughter to official abattoirs. The ministry called for stronger action to prevent illegal slaughter and for closer coordination among veterinary, municipal, security and environmental units. It also said legal action should be taken against anyone who fails to comply with the rules. It urged increased spraying and more frequent veterinary supervision, along with restrictions on moving animals from infected areas in line with health regulations. The ministry said citizens and butchers will be informed about the disease and reminded to buy meat stamped by official authorities.
