Iraq Ministry Announces Integrated Labor Market Information System

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq's Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs announced plans to establish an integrated information system to regulate the labor market, covering all provinces through data sharing among relevant ministries and institutions. Deputy Minister Huda Sucad said the system aims to address informal employment and reduce reliance on foreign workers. She noted that social security programs currently cover fewer than 600,000 workers, while millions operate outside the official framework or receive social assistance while employed. According to the ministry, approximately 1.8 million job seekers are registered on the Mihn platform, a figure expected to rise to between 3.5 and 4 million. The system also seeks to align educational programs with labor market demands. No further details were immediately available.
