Iraq Finance Minister Meets World Bank Delegation in Baghdad

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraqi Finance Minister Falih Sari met with a World Bank delegation in Baghdad to discuss technical and institutional cooperation ahead of the next general budget. The meeting included Jan-Christophe Carret, the World Bank's regional director, and Emmanuel Salinas, the bank's special representative for Iraq. Officials addressed advisory support for preparing the upcoming budget, with discussions centered on improving fiscal planning efficiency, monitoring expenditure priorities and supporting fiscal sustainability. Sari said the Finance Ministry continues reforms to improve fiscal management, increase non-oil revenues and update banking, tax and customs systems. The World Bank delegation reiterated its technical advisory support for Iraq's fiscal and economic reform programs.
