Iraq expects 10-degree temperature gap between north and south

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq's Meteorological Authority said a new temperature rise is expected this week, with a gap of roughly 10 degrees between the northern and southern parts of the country. According to the authority's daily forecast, Tuesday and Wednesday will see mostly clear skies, with partly cloudy conditions over the northernmost areas. Temperatures are forecast to climb several degrees in central and northern regions, while the south is expected to remain near current levels. For Thursday, the authority said skies will again be clear, with a slight increase in temperatures across central and southern areas and similar readings in the north. Friday is forecast to remain clear, with steady temperatures in central and northern regions and a modest rise in the south. The authority said daytime highs across Iraq on Tuesday will range from 36 to 46 degrees Celsius, noting that the 10-degree difference between the north and south reflects that distribution.
