UAE says it intercepted Iranian drone over its airspace

The United Arab Emirates' Ministry of Defense said it shot down an unmanned aerial vehicle approaching from Iran over the country's territorial waters. The ministry said the armed forces remain at the highest level of readiness to counter various threats and that air defense systems continue to monitor the airspace around the clock. The ministry also denied reports in some outlets that the Al Munaeed Air Base in the UAE had been struck by a missile, calling such claims inaccurate. Iran's Revolutionary Guards had earlier said in recent hours they had targeted U.S. positions at Al Munaeed as well as the King Hussein and Azraq air bases in Jordan. The Iranian statement came in response to a U.S. strike on Iran's Lark Island in the Strait of Hormuz, according to the Guards. No further details on casualties or damage were immediately provided.
