BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's Higher Independent Electoral Commission has approved the candidacy of Feras Rahim Macycer for the parliamentary elections, rejecting an objection filed against him. The commission's general secretariat said there were no legal barriers preventing him from standing in the race.
The decision followed a unanimous recommendation from the candidate qualifications review committee, established under Ministerial Decision No. 79. The commission ruled that the objection submitted by citizen Yasir Hashim Ali al-Husseini against the candidate was invalid.
In its ruling, the commission said no violation of Article 7, paragraph three of the amended parliamentary elections law No. 12 of 2018 had been identified. The Election Administration was instructed to take the necessary administrative steps and publish the decision on the commission's official website.
