BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq's Meteorological Authority said temperatures would rise across the country in the coming days, with some areas expected to reach 50°C by early next week. In a statement released Tuesday, the agency forecast partly cloudy conditions in central regions on Wednesday and clear skies in the north and south, with temperatures slightly increasing in central and southern areas while remaining similar to previous levels in the north. Thursday is expected to be clear, with temperatures near Tuesday's recorded levels, according to the authority. On Saturday, temperatures in central and southern Iraq are forecast to climb further, reaching 50°C in some locations, while northern regions will see no significant change. Sunday is expected to be partly cloudy with temperatures close to those recorded on Saturday. The agency said Wednesday's highest temperatures would range between 43°C and 49°C across the country. It did not provide additional details on the duration of the heatwave or potential mitigation measures.
