Iraq Cabinet Approves Security Agreement With Spain, Sends to Parliament

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq's Cabinet approved a draft international agreement with Spain covering security and crime fighting during its regular Tuesday meeting chaired by Prime Minister Ali Falih ez-Zeydi. The cabinet forwarded the agreement to the Iraqi Parliament for legislation. The cabinet also decided to continue depositing revenues from petroleum product exports into the relevant account of the Finance Ministry. Separately, the cabinet ordered measures to address traffic congestion in Baghdad under decision 2024/24213. The order calls for coordination between the Interior Ministry, the Ministry of Construction and Housing, the Ministry of Municipalities and Public Works, the Ministry of Transportation, and the Baghdad Operations Command. The Traffic General Directorate's circular 2024/5 will be implemented, along with provisions from an Interior Ministry letter dated May 2, 2026. The cabinet also approved a draft amendment to the Competition and Monopoly Prevention Law of 2010/14 and sent it to Parliament for consideration.
