Iraq Basketball Federation Names Youth National Team Coaching Staff

The Iraq Basketball Federation has appointed the coaching staff for the youth national team, made up of players born in 2008 and younger, as preparations intensify for the West Asia Championship in Amman, Jordan. Akil Najm will lead the side, with Abbas Naim and Mohand Mahdi named as assistant coaches. The appointments are part of the team’s build-up for the tournament, which is scheduled for the first half of next month in the Jordanian capital. The championship is set to serve as a qualifying event, with three teams advancing to the Asia Cup finals. The Asia Cup finals will be held in Ahmedabad, India, from 13 to 23 August. The federation’s move formalizes the team’s technical setup ahead of the regional competition.
