Iranian parliament speaker and chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi traveled to Switzerland on Saturday to join talks with the United States, according to Iranian state television. The delegation will push for the other side to meet its commitments, Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said, noting Iran is operating on a "commitment for commitment" basis.
On the US side, Vice President JD Vance told Fox News on Saturday he could travel to Switzerland in the next two days to join special envoy Steve Witkoff and presidential son-in-law Jared Kushner. CNN reported that Vance was expected to arrive in Switzerland on Saturday for the start of negotiations.
Pakistan's Foreign Ministry announced that a technical-level round of talks between the US and Iranian delegations will take place in Switzerland on Sunday, with mediators from Pakistan and Qatar also taking part. The two sides are set to meet in Burgdorf under a memorandum of understanding signed remotely on June 18 that aims to end the military conflict that began on February 28. No further details on the agenda were immediately available.
