TEHRAN, Iran — Iran's Foreign Ministry said the country's nuclear program was not negotiated during high-level talks with the United States held in Bürgenstock, Switzerland. The ministry added that relations with the International Atomic Energy Agency will be conducted with the approval of Iran's parliament, and that no new commitments regarding the nuclear program were accepted.
The first round of negotiations, held late into the night with joint mediation from Qatar and Pakistan, ended with an agreement to establish a senior committee for political oversight and working groups covering the nuclear file, sanctions, inspection mechanisms and dispute resolution. The two sides adopted a 60-day roadmap to reach a final agreement.
Participants also agreed to set up a communication line to ensure safe navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. No further details on the next round of talks were immediately available.
