Iran’s Revolutionary Guards naval force said 25 vessels passed through the Strait of Hormuz within 24 hours, underscoring the security and coordination requirements at one of the world’s most important oil and energy shipping lanes. The vessels included oil tankers, container ships and commercial ships.
The force said the transits were carried out after the necessary permits were obtained and coordination was completed with the Revolutionary Guards naval force. It said its personnel provided security and protection during the passage of the vessels.
Iranian television had reported the previous day that the owners and captains of 30 ships had coordinated with the Revolutionary Guards naval force for passage through the strait.
The Strait of Hormuz is widely regarded as one of the key chokepoints for global oil and energy transport, making any movement there strategically significant.
