TEHRAN, Iran โ Iran's Health Ministry said 18 people were killed and 108 others wounded in US strikes targeting several provinces across the country. The Health Minister said the attacks hit a number of Iranian provinces without specifying which ones.
Iranian sources reported that a residential area in the Serik district of Hormozgan province was struck during a wedding, causing civilian casualties. International reports said children were among those killed in the strikes.
Washington justified the attacks by citing what it described as Iranian threats to commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Tehran remained ready to return to compliance if the United States fulfilled its commitments under the agreement. He added that Iran remained open to a diplomatic process.
No further details on the scope of the strikes or the identities of the victims were immediately available.
