Trump says US destroyed Iran's capabilities near Strait of Hormuz

U.S. President Donald Trump said overnight strikes on Iran targeted facilities that were being used to develop mine-laying missiles, along with attempts to rebuild radar and missile systems. In remarks to reporters, Trump described the operation as "very hard" and said the United States was prepared to launch additional strikes at any time. Trump reiterated that Iran would not be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon and said the U.S. now controls the Strait of Hormuz, through which he said millions of barrels of oil are moved daily on numerous ships without disruption. U.S. Central Command announced earlier Wednesday morning that a wave of strikes had been completed, hitting air defense systems, radar installations, naval facilities, mine-laying capabilities and communication sites belonging to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
