BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi telephoned Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein on Monday, June 15, 2026, to thank him and Iraq's Foreign Ministry for their role in bringing the two sides closer together during recent negotiations, the Iraqi Foreign Ministry said.
In the call, Araghchi and Hussein discussed recent agreements and the outlook for regional stability. Araghchi conveyed his gratitude to Hussein and to the Iraqi government for backing the negotiation process, according to the ministry's statement.
Hussein responded by congratulating Araghchi and both negotiating teams on reaching a deal that he said would strengthen security and stability in the region. He stressed that a full end to the state of war would allow regional countries to focus on economic development.
The Iraqi foreign minister closed the call by reiterating his congratulations and thanking Araghchi for keeping Iraq continuously informed about the course of the talks.
