Libya's Zawiya refinery resumes operations after drone attack on fuel tank

Libya's Zawiya Refinery, located west of Tripoli, has resumed operations after a drone strike targeted a gasoline storage tank, causing a fire and fuel leak, the National Oil Corporation said. NOC head Masoud Suleiman said the struck tank held approximately 4.5 million liters of gasoline and collapsed under high temperatures. Emergency teams extinguished the fire and carried out cooling work to prevent it from spreading to nearby tanks, he added. The corporation warned that fuel losses could affect national supply and announced a top-level state of emergency at the site. It said production could be halted under a force majeure declaration if attacks on the facility continue. The incident is part of a series of four strikes on energy facilities in Zawiya over the past three days, according to the NOC.
