Iran said the visit of Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir to Tehran does not mean negotiations with the United States have reached a critical stage. Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Bakayi made the remarks as Munir arrived in Tehran as part of a delegation playing a mediation role in talks between Tehran and Washington. Bakayi said the issue of the Strait of Hormuz and what Washington describes as a naval blockade should also be on the negotiating table. He added that Iran does not currently plan to discuss the details of the nuclear file. He said the priority at this stage is to end fighting on all fronts, especially the war in Lebanon. The comments underscored Iran's position as regional tensions continue to shape its diplomatic agenda.
