Iran’s national team has moved its planned 2026 World Cup training camp from the United States to Mexico, shifting its base from Tucson, Arizona, to the border city of Tijuana to reduce possible visa and travel disruptions ahead of the tournament.
Iran Football Federation President Mehdi Taj said the decision followed talks with FIFA and the tournament organizing committee. The change is intended to make preparations smoother as the team readies for the competition.
Iran will open Group G play against New Zealand before facing Belgium and Egypt.
The team will appear at the World Cup for a fourth consecutive time and for the seventh time overall.
