Iranian sources said Tehran and Washington have continued exchanging messages, with signs of progress in negotiations over the past two days. The discussions remain focused on a broader deal covering all disputed issues, while Tehran wants the nuclear file addressed after the war ends.
The main sticking points remain Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium and the Strait of Hormuz. Washington is opposed to Iran moving enriched nuclear material to a third country and wants to take direct custody of it, while Tehran has rejected that demand.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also reiterated his opposition to Iran charging for passage through the Strait of Hormuz. Even so, he said the ongoing talks have produced relatively limited progress.
