TEHRAN, Iran โ Iran's Foreign Ministry accused the United States on Saturday of breaching nearly all provisions of an agreement signed between the two countries 25 days ago, and of carrying out attacks on Iran's southern transportation infrastructure. The ministry said strikes targeted Sirc port, Chabahar port, meteorological stations, fishing docks and cargo containers in southern Iran.
A railway bridge in Khorasan province was also hit, forcing the suspension of train services and disrupting travel for those planning to attend the funeral procession of the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, according to the ministry. The ministry also accused the United States of openly interfering with security arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz, creating renewed insecurity in the waterway and obstructing international commercial shipping.
The ministry further alleged that the US military has been using the territories and facilities of countries along the southern Gulf coast to launch attacks against Iran, effectively turning those countries into a battlefield. Iran said it would respond to attacks of any scale within the framework of international law under its legitimate right of self-defense, and stressed that the United States will not achieve its objectives through these methods.
The ministry said Tehran would no longer consider itself bound by the agreement if US aggression continues, but would remain committed as long as the other side fulfills its obligations. No further details were immediately available on any potential response or diplomatic steps.
