ADEN, Yemen โ Yemen's Houthis announced on Saturday that they targeted a ship linked to Saudi Arabian interests in the Bab al-Mandab Strait. Details of the attack, including the vessel's name and the extent of damage, were not immediately clear.
The Houthi statement said the group would continue military operations against foreign interests in Yemeni waters and along the country's coastline. The Iran-aligned movement has previously claimed attacks in the same area on ships it said were Israeli-owned or linked to Israel.
Bab al-Mandab connects the Red Sea to the Indian Ocean and is a critical chokepoint for global maritime trade. A Saudi-led coalition has been carrying out military operations against the Houthis in Yemen since 2015.
No immediate comment from Saudi authorities was reported. Further details on the incident were not immediately available.
