Iraqi military says three soldiers wounded in Humvee blast in Kirkuk

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq's Ministry of Defense said three soldiers, including two officers, were wounded when an explosive detonated on a Humvee in the Wadi al-Shay area of Kirkuk province. In a written statement, the ministry said the blast occurred as a unit attached to the 11th Division was searching the site of an earlier airstrike in the area. The ministry said the wounded soldiers were taken to hospital for treatment and were reported to be in stable condition. It added that the blast did not strike an Iraqi army unit from the air, contrary to reports circulating on social media. The Defense Ministry said relevant units have launched an inquiry to determine the circumstances of the explosion and that further details would be released once the investigation is complete.
