Gas cylinder explosion on Dubai's Sheikh Zayed Road kills one, wounds five

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — A gas cylinder explosion at a car showroom on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai killed one person and injured five others, the UAE Civil Defense Directorate said in a statement on Monday. The blast was caused by a gas cylinder, according to the directorate, which added that on-site emergency response had been completed and teams had secured the facility and surrounding area. The five injured were taken to hospitals for treatment and remain under close monitoring by medical teams, the statement said. The body of the deceased has been handed over to relevant authorities for legal processing under current procedures. Civil Defense teams carried out a wide sweep of the scene after the explosion and confirmed the area is now secure. Officials said the blast did not affect neighboring facilities or traffic flow on the busy road. No further details were immediately available.
