BAGHDAD, Iraq โ€” US Central Command said it has redirected 46 ships in the Strait of Hormuz since August 3, as it maintains a maritime blockade against Iran. According to the command, 44 commercial vessels were rerouted during the period, two ships were disabled and two others were boarded. CENTCOM said the operation is being carried out to stabilize the security environment in the strait, one of the world's key chokepoints for oil trade. The command added that US forces will continue to press the naval blockade of Iran with determination. The announcement comes amid heightened tensions in the region, where Iran and the United States have exchanged naval and air operations in recent weeks. No further operational details were immediately available.
